Bridgétt Enjoying Migrations

I always feel that art which addresses present concerns is so powerful. That is why I loved the Art of Migration Festival. I think that migration in the context of “passing borders”(both physical and mental) is a topic that needs to be both discussed and explored by not only political scientists but artists as well. Migration is a heavy topic and I feel the performances have treated the topic with great respect.

When I attended professor Chan Park’s P’ansori performance I went home in good spirits. It was so light hearted and inspiring. In her performance she incorporated modern references such as iphones and the recently famous Korean song “Gangam Style.” Being Mexican American, the culturally hybrid performance was very impactful on me. Chan Park was the bridge that connected our modern world to a traditional Korean performance. It was an overwhelmingly positive experience and I am grateful to have had the pleasure of having the experience. Oshiga!
