The Madness Has Begun: APAP|NYC 2013
APAP|NYC, the annual conference of the Association of Performing Arts Presenters, is the world's largest networking forum and marketplace for performing arts professionals. More than 3,500 presenters, artists, managers, agents and emerging arts leaders from 28 countries convene in New York City for five days of professional development, business deals and exciting performances.
Jeremy Ganter, our Associate Executive Director and Director of Programming, will be reporting in from the conference over the next week, providing a peek at how a Mondavi Center season comes together.
Here's dispatch one:
The conference madness has begun! Executive Director Don Roth, Programming Manager Erin Palmer and I have arrived in New York City. Together we will take in just under 100 meetings and performances in the next week, spending time with artists and colleagues from around the globe, putting the final pieces of the 13-14 season in place, and "scouting" artists and new projects for future seasons.
Don and I hit our first set of dance performances last night, checking in on some really great new work to be featured in our 13-14 Season. APAP promises to be as exciting as it is exhausting, but sifting through the good, the bad (and occasionally the ugly) on behalf of our wonderful Mondavi Center audience is an inspiring experience. Off we go!
